There are some people who are kind, loving and grateful no matter what challenges they face. That is my mom, Sally. I'm Valerie, and I am very lucky to have wonderful parents. My fundraiser is for them--Steve & Sally Sturgeon who live in northern Montana.

At 82 years old, Mom is still the sweetest person on Earth, despite the dementia that is chipping away at her. Pops, at 80 years old, has been doing his best taking care of her and all the household duties. It’s getting harder and harder for him not to fall apart.

As Mom's needs steadily increase, and as Pops watches his soulmate slip away, they both need help. and they do not qualify for Medicare. They have exhausted the options for funding, and it’s still not enough to cover the costs of ongoing care and respite indefinitely. In-home care is expensive, and Pops is finally at a point where he’s asking for help.

My parents don’t have much in the way of income or savings. My husband and I are already helping as much as we can. If you have the desire and the ability to help financially, we would all be so grateful. It would reduce the struggle during this heartbreaking time, and it would allow Mom to stay in her home as long as possible with her loving husband of almost 50 years. Thank you.
