Help Steve in his Battle with Cancer
My name is Christy Pedersen, and I am starting this fundraiser for some dear friends of mine, Steve and Kathy Lampley.
On, what should have been a special day (their 19th wedding anniversary), February 24th, 2020, some dear friends of mine received some devastating news. The words we all fear...”you have cancer.”
Steve and Kathy Lampley are “salt of the earth” people. Steve, a self-employed electrician, is a dedicated husband and father. His loving wife, Kathy, has worked along side him in their business for many years. They have 3 amazing children. Their oldest two, William and Rachel, attend college at Mizzou and Drury. Their youngest, Hailey, is in 8th grade, and plays volleyball, piano, and is a cheerleader.
I first met the Lampleys in 2016, when I had their youngest in my 4th grade class. At the end of the school year, I had to paint my entire classroom by myself. Kathy and her 3 kids showed up and helped me paint all day. When I was diagnosed with Covid in late August, Kathy dropped off a care package on my porch. Even while her own family was struggling, she was thinking of others.
Over the last year, Steve has undergone numerous tests and procedures as well as chemotherapy. The various treatments have left him sick and unable to work much of the time. He's been unable to attend many of his children’s events. Before his diagnosis, he never missed a performance or event. The medical bills as well as bills for other basic living expenses have continued to pile up, but with Steve largely unable to work, there is little to no money coming in.
The Lampleys have been private about their struggles. They haven’t wanted to share their pain or be a burden to others. They recently learned that the previous treatments haven’t worked and that the cancer has spread; Steve’s cancer is now in Stage 4. Because of this, they agreed to let me start this fundraiser on their behalf. They are putting aside their pride for the sake of their children. They need financial help, so Steve can focus on his fight against this horrible disease.
If you are able, please donate. Whether you are able to help with a donation or not, please share this and pray for the Lampley family.
