Help Steve & his family as he faces CTE

Steve has always lived life to the fullest, been a colourful yet kind-hearted character, tough as nails, and a genuine man to the core. In the more recent years Steve has been incredibly lucky to have welcomed two beautiful boys into his life and embarked on being a fantastic and loving dad. However, life took a drastic turn and now our amazing Steve has been going through the biggest challenge of his life. He is in the process of being diagnosed with Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) which involves fighting the daily battle of frontal lobe deficits (dementia), other neuro/cognitive deficits and mental health challenges.

The last few years involved a slow decline however the last 6-8 months has seen a rapid deterioration. Given this disease is still significantly evolving with diagnostic investigations and testing, various treatments and unclear prognosis, there have been a lot and continues to be a lot, of ongoing out-of-pocket expenses.

In June 2022 just before our second boy was born, Steve had to close his sole trading business that he loved so much because of his complex health issues. Steve will never be able to return to the workforce which has unfortunately left behind a fair bit of business expenses, with no income protection, to be covered by me as a single parent.

One last blow is that Steve is currently an inpatient for an Acquired Brain Injury and we are not too sure what the future looks like.

Asking for help of any kind is always extremely difficult however we are now in the trenches both emotionally and financially in the fight to help Steve the best we can with any further testing and ultimately giving him some quality of life to support him and his kids. Any support to make this last part of Stevo’s life with his boys better will be forever appreciated.
