Help Steve Herbig Battle Rare T-Cell Cancer

Donation protected
Please Support Steve Herbig with his Fight with T-Cell Lymphoma Cancer

Our dear friend, Steve Herbig was diagnosed with Stage 4 Primary Cutaneous Gamma Delta T-Cell Lymphoma cancer last year and has been bravely fighting for his life enduring numerous rounds of excruciating chemotherapy treatments. Unfortunately, there is no cure for this type of cancer at this time, only treatments available to help manage it.

T-Cell lymphoma delta cancer is a very rare and aggressive rapidly growing cancer which has caused Steve immense pain and suffering and has been resistant to all the chemotherapy treatments Steve has endured in the past 6 months. Due to Steve’s weakened immune system, he has developed numerous complications and setbacks with his treatments. After exhausting all chemotherapy options without success, Steve’s medical team collectively decided the next best course of action would be for Steve to participate in a clinical trial for stem cell replacement at Sloan Kettering hospital in New York City. Steve was transferred to Sloan Kettering hospital to start the treatment several weeks ago, unfortunately the stem cell treatment had to be placed on hold as Steve developed HLH syndrome, a rare and life threatening condition where the immune system becomes overly active and starts attacking healthy cells and causes severe inflammation and organ damage. Steve is currently in ICU and undergoing kidney dialysis and another round of chemotherapy. Steve will continue to receive treatment at Sloan Kettering for an extended time and we are praying that he will be able to obtain stem cell treatment once he is strong enough.

Lisa, Steve’s amazing wife and our dearest friend, rented an apartment near Sloan Kettering hospital to be near Steve where she is traveling back and forth from work to the hospital. Steve’s sister, Mary, is staying at the apartment full time to visit and take care of Steve while Lisa is working during the week. This has already resulted in significant out of pocket cost for the family having to cover accommodations, meals and travel expenses, and unfortunately these costs will continue to grow each day. With Steve facing a long road to recovery and requiring extended hospital stay, the financial strain will continue to increase as time goes on especially since Steve will not be able to go back to work.

As you can imagine, the emotional toll of Steve’s ongoing cancer treatment has been incredibly stressful to our dear friend Lisa and her family. Not only are they coping with the emotional strain but they are also burdened with significant medical expenses and hotel cost to stay near the hospital for Steve’s treatment. Lisa has been an incredible inspiration to all of us, showing remarkable strength as she supports Steve through his cancer treatment.

Steve and Lisa has been wonderful friends to so many of us, and any support with these costs would be deeply appreciated during this challenging time. Let’s all keep Steve in our thoughts and prayers as he fights through this difficult battle and may we all come together to support his recovery.

Please share this with your friends and family. Any contributions will help the Herbig family.

Thank you,
