In an unimaginable twist of fate, my son, Steve Pollic suffered a devastating accident—he passed out during the night and fell, breaking his neck. The injury caused serious spinal cord damage, resulting in the loss of leg function and paralysis in other areas of his body.

Steve now faces an entirely new way of life. He will require extensive medical equipment, home modifications like a wheelchair-accessible ramp, and long-term rehabilitation. Most importantly, he will be unable to work during this challenging time.

His wife Jen, who has just six weeks left in her final year of veterinary school, will be graduating and returning home to care for Steven full-time. Understandably, she will also be unable to work for the foreseeable future as the two of them focus on his recovery and adjust to a new normal.
