Help Steve Hahn Get the PTSI Treatment He Needs

Donation protected
Hello dear friends, my name is Steve Hahn and I am a survivor of occupationally acquired Post Traumatic Stress Injury (PTSI). As a former army medic and flight nurse with over 35 years of combined experience caring for people during the very worst day of their lives, I became a broken man and am no longer able to directly take care of patients anymore. This hurts me perhaps the most - not being able to help my community when needed. Since that day in 2011 when I was unable to get out of my truck, overcome with depression, drenched in sweat with anxiety and feelings of suicide, I was a shell. Since that day, I have fought to heal from this devastating injury. As one of the first medical professionals in the Yukon to be diagnosed, the system had no capacity to understand or properly assist in my care. Although I did receive some funding to go to in-patient treatment, the bulk of the resources and work to access care had to come from me. I sacrificed my home, my belongings, my savings and my career in order to both identify sources of assistance and then blindly go - not knowing if this was the correct path. There were a great many miss-steps and trusted medical professionals turned their back - believing I was not trying hard enough. Even now, I still I fight on with the hope that one day the anger, the suicidal thoughts and the pain can be managed. Every day I struggle to move forward, not knowing when the medications will fail or whether my circle will be there to catch me when I fall. I am now unable to sleep, surviving on shear mental fortitude and quiet rage. Episodes of missing time have occurred - leading me to believe that I may soon become lost in my soul. I am not willing to let these dangerous thoughts win. Unwilling to become another statistic. I believe that I am still of value to my community and when healthy, help others in many of the ways that I once did.

Over the past year I have been seeking a new form of treatment. Going against the line that this is the best there is. A new form of treatment that utilizes psychedelic medicines, to heal the wounds in my brain, has given me a new hope. Only legal in Mexico, I have found a clinic that has a strong track record of helping veterans and first responders like me. Medical assisted psychedelic therapy is not a new idea, but rather something that was put on hold during the 60s, 70s and 80s, out of fear and politics. My prior successes in Hyperventilation Breath Work has shown me that by moving deep into the sub-conscious, one can confront and heal the unresolved trauma in the brain. I must go deeper that what respiratory alkalosis can provide.

The Ambiolife Sciences program has agreed to accept me as a client and help me with true and lasting healing. Medically supervised and clinically safe, the program will give me the necessary assistance that I need. Out of the seven day session, I hope to put to rest the demons that haunt my dreams, as well as let the traumas of the past go. The therapy will not be covered by WCB or by Yukon Insured Health, due to the fact that this is not an "on label" treatment regime, or available in Canada. I have spoken to psychiatric practitioners, clients and done my due diligence in selecting this path. I believe that it will help me to put down my anger and let me live my life free of the anchor that one calls PTSI.

I am asking my friends, family, former students and clients to financially assist me in obtaining my goal. I have been working so very hard to set money aside; however, without your help and prayers, I can not do it alone. I realize times are tough and the economic realities of each of our lives is day to day. I am on bent knee asking as a former front line care provider and defender of the country, to open your heart and consider assisting me to get well. I shall never forget you folks and once better double down to ensure there is someone there when it is your worst day. Any moneys not utilized for my care, will go into a public trust so others may take this step to lasting recovery. Thank you and God Bless.
