Help Steve & Grandson Rebuild After Loss

My name is Steve. I’m 61 years old, and I never imagined I’d be here asking for help.

In 2021, during the height of COVID, I lost my 36-year-old daughter. She left behind four children. With no father of record for the oldest and youngest boys, I stepped in to raise them along with my now 82 yeard old mother. Joey the oldest is now 21, graduated and living on his own. Sam is 13 and lives with me.

For 12 years, I worked a stable tech job and provided for my family. In January 2024, I was laid off. I found another position 5 months later and worked remotely for 8 months. Then without warning, management suddenly told everyone a new corp initiative: Return to Officec - mandatory in seat in office in Omaha NE.
We live in Denver and I couldn’t uproot my grandson from the only stability he had left. After exhausting every internal option, I was let go in June 2025.

By then, I was behind on my mortgage. I sold personal belongings just to keep the lights on. In October, my home was foreclosed. In early December, days after my 61st birthday, I was forcibly removed. Many of my belongings were damaged or lost. What I could save is now in storage I can barely afford.

Today, I live in an RV parked in my parents’ front yard. Sam has the spare bedroom inside.

My parents are both in their 80s, living on a fixed income, battling Alzheimer’s and dementia. My father recently broke his hip. I help manage medications, therapy visits, Dr' appointments and daily care. I am needed here.

I am actively searching for work. I have decades of experience in tech and the drive to rebuild. The job market has been brutal, and unemployment benefits have ended.

I am not asking for a handout. I am asking for a bridge.

Funds will help cover storage, basic living expenses, and give me the stability to secure employment and provide for my grandson again.

If you can help, even a small amount, it truly matters. If you can’t, sharing this page means just as much.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring.
