Help Jazz Legend Steve Gilmore Get Back on the Road
Grammy-winning jazz bassist Steve Gilmore was involved in a multi-car accident on May 25 in Panama City Beach while on his way to a gig. Thankfully, Steve was not seriously hurt, and his beloved acoustic bass survived—but his van was totaled.
At 82 years young, Steve is still a vital force in the jazz world, performing regularly all along Florida’s Panhandle. He relies on his van to travel to gigs, which are not only his passion but also his livelihood. Unfortunately, insurance will only cover a portion of the loss, leaving Steve without dependable transportation to continue doing what he loves—and what our music community needs.
Steve has spent a lifetime giving to others: mentoring young musicians, supporting fellow artists, and sharing his gifts on countless stages. He has been keeping the Gulf Jazz Society in Panama City, Fl going as a board member for the past few years. He’s a living treasure and a pillar of our musical family.
Let’s come together to help get Steve back on the road. Funds raised will go directly toward replacing his vehicle so he can safely and reliably continue sharing his music.
Although $20,000 may not replace a reliable vehicle every donation helps—thank you for supporting a true jazz legend.
