Steve McNamara is a dear friend who has been living with ALS. As the disease has progressed, Steve has lost the ability to control his extremities and is now wheelchair bound. This has made it impossible for him to get into a regular car, and as a result, he hasn’t been able to visit his favorite places or spend time out in the community for months. Recently, his wife rented a wheelchair accessible van for the weekend, and it was truly life-changing for Steve. He was able to get out, enjoy the world, and experience a sense of freedom he hadn’t felt in a long time. Unfortunately, buying or leasing a van like this long-term is simply out of reach for their family right now.

Having a wheelchair accessible van would mean so much to Steve and his loved ones. It would allow him to get to important doctors appointments, pain management sessions, and physical therapy, making his daily life more comfortable and manageable. Most importantly, it would give him the chance to spend the time he has left doing the things he loves with his wife, daughter, son, and all the friends and family who care about him.
