In 2018, I was hospitalized for a severe MRSA infection that spread throughout my whole body. I spent 96 days in the hospital, including two weeks of physical therapy, fighting for my life. During my stay, my fiancée and doctor said I had died three times in the ICU. I am so grateful I made it through that low point in my life, with great friends and family always by my side. The infection caused my kidneys to shut down, and although doctors managed to get them working again, I later learned my kidneys were only functioning at about 8-12%.
Not knowing this, I continued living life as normal until March 29, 2024, when I ended up back in the hospital fighting for my life again. My blood level was dangerously low, and I was told I had gone into kidney failure. Since then, I have been on kidney dialysis. I’m thankful to have a machine to keep me alive, but I also hope to enjoy life again without chest ports and dialysis machines.
The funds I receive will go towards any and all medical bills and housing for my stay in the hospital. When I was growing up, we were taught to be polite and respect others, but the most important thing we were taught was to help others whenever we are able. I have followed those ideas all my life, but I’m a man who does not like to ask for help. Even though I’m built that way, I realize there is no way I can get my new kidney myself—it will take the kindness and desire of other people to see me meet my goal. I am extremely grateful for those who read this story and decide to contribute to my dream.
