For those who know Nancy and Steve, you should know that they are the most selfless people you have ever met. The word “no” almost doesn’t exist in their vocabulary. They would give you the shirt off their backs or the last dollar in their wallet if it meant they were helping someone they loved. That being said, for the people that are there for everyone, need someone to be there for them. For the last several months, our family has been dealing with the hard truth that Steve was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. The beginning of this road was bumpy but okay, but now bumps are becoming very large potholes. Some that we thought were smoothed over have come back worse. Recently our family made the decision to explore the options that The Cancer Treatment Center of America in Philadelphia had to offer since we wanted to try to find the best care for the best “pop-pop” in the world. Although we believe as a family this is best facility to be taking care of Steve, we are quickly learning that traveling to and from Philadelphia is becoming quite costly. As of now they are traveling on the train from DC to Philly and having to find their own hotel accommodations for their stay, at least 3 nights every month. As we hope Steve can begin Chemotherapy soon, he also is having issues with his Knee Replacement which is delaying the process of Chemotherapy beginning. We are so lucky that The Cancer Treatment Center have plenty of Doctors from Orthopedics to rheumatologist to pain management and everything in between to help Steve in anyway shape or form, but that is going to include many more trips to Philadelphia in the near and far future. Our family is not one to ask for help or favors but it would mean the world to us in any amount to help Steve and Nancy get themselves to and from Philly so we can get Steve on the best road to recovery and hopefully remission. Whether it’s monetary, prayers, or helping with transportation anything is beyond appreciated because these two people deserve all the help they can get.
