This is our Dad, Steve, or “Poppy” to his grandchildren. On March 6th, 2025, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Signet Ring Esophageal Cancer, which has spread to multiple other parts of his body. At this point, there is no cure or surgery to help, only medication and chemotherapy to prolong his life for as long as we can. Even if we were to reach the point of no cancer being detected in his body, the recurrence rate of Esophageal Cancer is very high and will require constant medical care and monitoring for the rest of his life.
Before our Dad’s life came to a screeching halt, his plan was to retire from his job of 24 years at Lavallette Hardware to move to New Hampshire to be with his two grandchildren, Ryan and Madelyn. He was looking at apartments, started moving personal belongings up to a storage unit, and already had big dreams of watching his grandchildren grow from close by. Because of his diagnosis, this move is no longer an option without a miracle due to the treatments needed and costs involved.
To keep our Dad’s dream alive, we hope through the generosity of others we can raise enough to cover the expenses necessary to provide continued medical care and make up for some of the income lost from being out of work. Our wish is for our Father to one day be well enough to make the move to NH and live out the dream he’s been working for his whole life.
We thank you for taking the time to read this and appreciate anything you can do to support our Father.
