Steve and Tori Reed are two of the most generous and kind people you could ever meet. They are the godparents to my son, and loved by many. One Saturday afternoon in early April, they were involved in a head-on collision that has left them both in the hospital with very serious injuries and of course their only car totaled. This couple is inseparable, their bond is unshakable and founded in true love. Unfortunately, Steve's injuries had him airlifted from the accident site to a different hospital than Tori was taken to in an ambulance. They are currently over an hour away from each other.
Steve had major internal trauma that involved a 6-hour surgery on his intestines caused by the steering wheel and seat belt. While he is expected to recover, he will have a colostomy bag for at least a year. He also suffered a broken arm, a broken collar bone, and other minor injuries.
Tori suffered a broken neck (expected to heal), 8 broken ribs on the right side, her right wrist is broken, both of her legs are injured badly from the knee down, and other minor injuries. She currently has a chest tube in, and they are considering putting her on a ventilator again as her breathing is very labored.
Although they had no symptoms when being admitted to the hospital, they both tested positive for COVID.
Steve and Tori live in a small town in Pennsylvania, and are not on social media. They are Christian and feel blessed to have each other and family and are praying hard for strength and recovery. Both of them give much more than they receive, dropping everything to support those in need, including working with their local SPCA for animal rescue activities. Now it is time to help them. It is hard for them to accept help, but this is a critical situation.
I am very worried about how they will get through all of this, even with insurance. They are stressed beyond belief and they have a very long recovery ahead of them. They are scared and lonely, they are upset they are not in the same hospital and so far apart. No visitors due to COVID, only calls and texts, and Tori can barely speak and neither can type well due to injuries. They are worried about having a car, medical bills, and just living after they are released. My heart is broken for them, I am scared for them, and I want to do anything to help them. If any two people deserve help after all they have given, it is Steve and Tori Reed.
I am asking everyone if they can spare anything to help, please do! And if anything, please PRAY.
