Help for Steve and Rebecca Simms

Steve and Rebecca Simms, my neighbors across the street, lost their home in a fire on the night of August 31, 2026. After hearing a boom and seeing a glow through my window, I knew we had a structure fire across the street. Immediately rushed over to try to help Steve battle the blaze, but to no avail, we were forced out of the carport by the heat and smoke. This heartbreaking loss comes after they had already endured so much. Just two years ago, during Hurricane Milton, they lost their previous home and had to start over in the house that has now also been destroyed. To make this even harder, they did not have insurance, so every expense they now face will be completely out of pocket.

Steve and Rebecca have already been through serious hardship. After Hurricane Milton, both were hospitalized for about a month, and Rebecca lost a leg. In this fire, Rebecca’s prosthetic leg was also lost, along with their clothing, medications, and daily essentials. Donations will help them replace immediate necessities, cover temporary housing, restore their medications, and help Rebecca get a new prosthetic leg as they begin the long process of rebuilding once again.
