As some of you may know, but most do not, my brother Steve is on Social Security disability and is extremely limited in his ability to work. He is also the main caretaker of our mother, who up until recently lived on her own in a trailer she owned.
Because of our mother's deteriorating health conditions, we were forced to move her into assisted living and sell her trailer. During the process of moving her furniture, Steve’s wife Michelle got dizzy and fell backwards, landing on a large vase and injuring her back so badly that Steve had to take her to the emergency room right away. Michelle had surgery to repair her back, and while they were examining her back, they found cancer in two spots. It turned out to be stage four cancer, and they were able to successfully remove a lymph node that was the size of a silver dollar (supposed to be the size of a pea), but could not remove the large spot in her lungs because it was wrapped around a vessel. She has been undergoing treatment for the past couple of weeks and is managing with Steve’s help.
During this process, Steve noticed a leak in his front bedroom and upon investigation found that the boards used to support the shingles were rotting and falling apart. As you can see by the picture, the ceiling in the bedroom is being severely damaged and there is a potential for the roof to cave in if not fixed quickly. I received several estimates for replacing the roof and the average is $12-$20,000.
I am asking anyone with the ability to assist either monetarily or physically for help. I have set up a GoFundMe page. If you are not able to do either of these, please at least pass this request on to anyone you know that might be willing to assist. Your contributions are greatly appreciated. God bless your help.
