Help Steve And Gabi Grow Their Family
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Nicole, and I am one of Steve's cousins on his mom Sally's side. We are a tight-knit family of some of the best, most kind-hearted, funniest, and most loyal people you'll ever meet. When Steve met Gabi, we all immediately also fell in love with her and her laid-back, poised, hip, kind and giving nature. She fits right in here. She's one of those women that other women want to be jealous of because she's so effortlessly stylish and naturally beautiful, but she's also just so dang likable that she ends up being everyone's best friend. Steve has one of those eye-crinkling wide smiles that is as genuine as they come. I've known him since he was in diapers, and as far back as I can remember, he's been a giver, and everybody's buddy. I know that I speak for everyone else who has been lucky enough to meet these two, that they are some pretty incredible souls. Simply put, we just love Steve and Gabi more than words can express.
This brings me to why we are here; why you're reading this Go Fund Me intro. Steve and Gabi have been on a long journey to become parents, and it's been full of many struggles. Along the way, the two of them have endured 3 miscarriages, 2 of which resulted in surgeries. Medical insurance refused to cover genetic testing until the 3rd miscarriage, which was torturous in itself. The waiting period for genetic results has been excruciatingly long for the fetus and the couple.
Finally, after several months of agonizing miscarriages, treatments and procedures, Gabi underwent testing and other medical assessments to assess whether she is a carrier of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Sadly, results show that she is a carrier for DMD. This is characterized by progressive muscle degeneration and also affects other bodily systems within the fetus. Children with DMD do not live long lives, and their quality of life is significantly impacted.
Fortunately, science (science is AWESOME!) can prevent this from being inherited by creating and selecting healthy embryos through IVF. This is an amazing scientific achievement. Unfortunately, it is also quite costly, and the treatments are not covered by medical insurance.
Gabi and Steve love each other so so very much. Their love for one another is a testament to the love they already have for their future children and family. Their sweet babies would be welcomed eagerly into their large, loving, extended families with an outpouring of love that would span generations to come.
Please consider donating to our fund to raise money for Steve and Gabi's IVF Treatments. No amount is too small! Please share with friends and family alike! We appreciate you all, and your donations are going toward two of the best and most loving future parents. Thank you so much!
