Help Steve and Ann Yablonski
UPDATE AND APPEAL FOR A LITTLE MORE HELP:
Ann has passed away (obituary here: https://www.nelson-funeralhome.com/obituary/annmarie-yablonski) despite everyone's best efforts. Steve's cataract surgery went well enough and his vision has returned. Now, the bills are coming in. A five-figure from the hospital is, of course, more than anyone can pay. Steve is doing what he can, but the fight is uphill all the way. Can you dig deep and help him one more time?
And please feel free to share this in hopes we can give back to someone who has given his working life to his community.
Thank you!
-------------------------------------
I'm raising money on behalf of and for my longtime friend and colleague Steve Yablonski and his wife, Ann. (That's a photo from their wedding nearly 40 years ago. It's impossible to find many photos of either of them -- they're both modest folks and Steve fills his Facebook timeline with pictures of his cats and jokes!)
Ann is fighting cancer and in the same week received a difficult diagnosis and lost her job. Her treatments are very expensive. Steve can barely see thanks to cataracts in both eyes, with surgery delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. He can't drive, so he can't work.
They have no income coming in and the financial need is immediate and severe.
Oswegonians know Steve from his decades of covering news in the Port City, at the Palladium-Times and later as the founding editor of Oswego Daily News, now called Oswego County Today. He's told everyone else's story and now it's time to tell his. Together, they've been a part of life in the area and now they need your help.
All funds will go to Steve and Ann (minus the tiny service fee GoFundMe charges) and they will access the funds directly.
Please help, and thank you.
