Help Steven the Seagull Soar Again!
Dear Friends and Supporters, My name is Donna, and I am a dedicated volunteer at a sanctuary that cares for birds in need. I’m reaching out to share the story of Steven, a courageous seagull who has captured our hearts and needs your support. Steven has a slight curvature of his spine, which is pressing on his nerves and causing paralysis in his legs and balance issues. Despite these challenges, he is a little fighter with a strong will to survive. Our goal is to provide him with the specialized care he needs to recover and thrive, including calcium supplementation and UVB light therapy to help him absorb essential nutrients. While he has shown remarkable improvement, his journey is just beginning. Steven has lost the use of his legs and has struggled with his feathers losing waterproofing, making swimming difficult. He deserves every chance to regain his strength and joy. I am actively searching for a specialized veterinarian who can evaluate Steven’s spine in hopes of identifying potential improvement strategies and, if necessary, discuss options for surgical correction of the curvature. This opportunity could greatly enhance his quality of life and future mobility. In addition to caring for Steven, we are committed to enhancing the sanctuary to be more accessible for birds with similar needs. We aim to create wheelchairs and other adaptive equipment that can offer mobility and comfort to our feathered friends, allowing them to live their lives to the fullest.
