If you know Stephen Sutherland, you know he's the kind of person who makes life brighter just by being in it.
Stephen is a brilliant musician with an extraordinary memory. He can recall songs, scores, and movie trivia with a precision that feels almost magical. But what truly sets him apart isn't just his talent, it's his heart. He is deeply kind, endlessly compassionate, and wise in a way that makes people feel seen, understood, and cared for.
Today, Stephen is facing the fight of his life.
He was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in June of 2025, an aggressive form of cancer that requires immediate and intensive treatment. He underwent chemotherapy at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles in July 2025, followed by 39 days in the Oncology ICU through September 2025. As he continues this challenging journey, he is scheduled to receive a stem cell transplant in April from his brother, Adam. The emotional toll is already immense, but the financial burden is just as overwhelming.
Stephen is currently responsible for $700 per month in COBRA insurance premiums, in addition to mounting medical expenses that come with ongoing treatments, hospital stays, medications, and recovery care.
We are asking for your help to give Stephen what he has always given so many others: support, stability, and hope.
Your donation will go directly toward:
Monthly COBRA insurance premiums
Medical bills and treatment costs
Medications and supportive care
Living expenses during this time when working is not possible
Every contribution - no matter the size - makes a meaningful difference. And if you're unable to give, sharing this page is just as powerful.
Stephen has spent his life showing up for others with kindness, humor, and a depth of care that is rare to find. Now it's our turn to show up for him.
Please consider helping Stephen with this medical journey so that he can focus on what matters most: healing.
Thank you for your generosity, your prayers, and your support.
With gratitude,
Stephen's siblings Ashley and Adam Sutherland
