On October 28, 2025, our father, Stephen Sharkey, was taken to the hospital after suffering from cognitive issues. After many tests and imaging, our father received the horrible news that he had metastatic cancer. Biopsies later confirmed that he had Non-Small Cell Carcinoma Lung Cancer Stage 4, which had unfortunately spread to his lymph nodes and brain.

After the initial shock, fear, and many tears… he is ready to fight like hell!! On November 18th, he began his fight at Smilow. He underwent Gamma Knife Radiosurgery to treat the brain mass.

Although our father’s cancer diagnosis is not curable, it’s thankfully treatable. He will need chemotherapy to manage the cancer and hopefully relieve some of the symptoms.

Due to his diagnosis, our father is no longer able to work. Any contribution, big or small, will help with some financial stress and allow our dad to focus on what matters most - healing and recovery.
