Help Stephen Baker Rebuild After Injustice

Donation protected
I am raising funds on behalf of Stephen Baker, who was recently released from a maximum security prison in Arkansas after serving nearly 10 years of his 15-year sentence. His crime? Conspiracy to sell cannabis. Several people gave him up to law enforcement in order to save themselves, and despite not being caught with any actual cannabis in his possession, Stephen was given a shockingly harsh sentence to be carried out at a place meant for the worst violent criminals.

He was finally released in May 2024 just in time to see his oldest daughter graduate from high school. He missed the opportunity to see her crowned homecoming queen. He recently lost his father too, adding more heartbreak to the years of isolation and family disruptions all caused by this serious injustice in sentencing. Now he needs to be there for his younger children and do what he can to make up for lost time (10 years!!).

Stephen has been supported by Last Prisoner Project and Freedom Grow and has been helped by many activists in his effort to reassimilate and reconnect with his family and community. He’s currently staying at a halfway house and is desperate to secure stable housing so he may provide for his family once again.

The goal of this fundraiser is to help a family torn apart by the failed war on drugs to rebuild, at last. If you currently enjoy the freedom to partake of this plant we especially encourage you to donate something on behalf of someone who has paid a dear price for a freedom we now enjoy.

Help Stephen get back to a place where he can provide for and support his beautiful children. Help him get back on his feet with stable housing while he finds meaningful, long-term employment to support his family.

Hear a sobering interview with Stephen just before he was released on Jailed for Weed's podcast here.

About me: As a dispensary owner, I understand the irony of being able to make a living doing the same thing other people have been and continue to be arrested for. It's not fair, at all. So I support nonprofits like the Last Prisoner Project and have made it my mission to help these current and former cannabis prisoners overcome the hurdles they face.
