Our friend Stephanie Scott is facing a crisis, and we’re asking for help on her behalf. Stephanie recently moved to our community from Gainesville, Florida to escape severe gang violence that, four years ago, tragically took the life of her 13-year-old son while he was in only 7th grade. She came here to build a safer life for herself and, most importantly, her youngest son.

She works at Publix, does everything she can, and never asks anyone for anything. She has no family here, no support system, and is now months behind on rent. She is at risk of eviction very soon. Our sons go to school together and have become close friends. It’s been heartbreaking to watch Stephanie struggle alone. She’s a devoted mom who’s simply trying to keep a roof over her child’s head and give him a chance at safety and stability, and maybe even a little joy during the holidays.

We know we can’t fix everything, but we can come together to help her avoid homelessness and give her and her son a chance at a safe, hopeful Christmas. Every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward overdue rent, immediate living expenses, and securing stable housing for Stephanie and her son.
