In October 2023, my life changed dramatically when I suffered a stroke. Since then, my health has been a constant challenge. I now have an issue with my eyes that causes them to move involuntarily, making me dizzy and making it feel like the room is spinning whenever I get up or move my head. This has made it difficult to use my laptop or phone for more than 10 to 15 minutes at a time, which has been incredibly isolating. Over the past two and a half years, I've also been hospitalized several times, including for diabetic foot ulcers on both feet.
Recently, I learned from my eye doctor that I have cataracts in both eyes and need surgery to fix them. Unfortunately, I was told I need to pay a deductible just to have the surgery. On top of my health struggles, I've been going back and forth with Social Security. My first application was denied, and even with an attorney, it's still an uphill battle to get the support I need.
Right now, my light and water bills are behind, and I don't have all the money for my rent this month. Living month-to-month is incredibly stressful, and my high blood pressure and diabetes are directly affected by this stress. Getting caught up on my bills and rent would be a game changer for my health and peace of mind. If possible, I also hope to use some of the funds for cataract surgery so I can improve my vision and quality of life.
Any support, whether through a donation or by sharing my story, would mean so much to me. I know times are tough for many, but even a small gesture can make a big difference. Thank you for reading and for any kindness you can offer.
