I was in an abusive relationship for a long time, and it left me financially dependent on my partner. I was a stay-at-home mom because I was too afraid to leave my kids alone with him. Over time, I lost touch with friends and family, and I was working hard to get on my own feet so I could leave. Before I could, last week he broke into our home, attacked me in front of my children, and destroyed many of our belongings. He took every dollar we had and left me with overwhelming debt. Now, my utilities are about to be shut off, and my kids and I are struggling to get by. Our kitchen table is broken, so my children have nowhere to eat dinner, and he even took our food assistance card. I have no money to pay bills, no car to get around, and I’m desperately searching for a job. I’ve submitted so many applications and my resume, but I’m worried that soon I won’t even have internet access to keep looking for work. My kids have been through so much, and all I want is to give them a safe, stable home and a chance to heal. Donations will help us keep the heat and electricity on, buy food and diapers, replace our broken table, and hopefully get a car so I can find work and take care of my children.
