Rebuild After 31st Ave Fire

On the afternoon of Sunday, March 1st, a devastating kitchen fire broke out at the home of Stephanie Garrett on 31st Avenue in Spokane Valley. While we are incredibly grateful that Stephanie and her two young children (ages 11 and 5) are safe, and that the Spokane Valley Fire Department was able to resuscitate one of their beloved pets, they have lost nearly everything.

Stephanie is a single mother and a pillar of our community, serving as a dedicated teacher and coach who is always the first to step up for others. Now, it is our turn to help her. The fire spread from the kitchen into the attic, and it is estimated that rebuilding will take 9 to 12 months. In the meantime, the family is starting from scratch. They need to find a new home and replace every essential item, including:

• Housing: Rental deposits and temporary living expenses.
• Essentials: Clothing, toiletries, and bedding for Stephanie and both children.
• Home Goods: Furniture, beds, dishes, and kitchen supplies.
• Kids' Needs: Toys, school supplies, and comfort items to help them navigate this upheaval.

Every donation goes directly to Stephanie to help her family stabilize during this unimaginably difficult time. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this link with the Spokane Valley community.

Thank you for your kindness and for supporting a family that gives so much to our schools and community.
