Hello friends,

My name is Lisa, and I am setting up a GoFundMe account for my sister Stephanie. Steph has recently been diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. Her diagnosis is Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Grade 3, Luminal B. Recent tests have shown it's an aggressive type of cancer that has a high likelihood of returning and spreading. The final stage will be determined after surgery when they are able to check lymph nodes and complete pathology of the tumor.

Stephanie is being seen at UCSF, which is a 2 to 3-hour drive (depending on traffic) for appointments. The game plan to fight this cancer is: Surgery in mid-December, followed by chemotherapy, and then radiation treatments. There will be a second surgery to deal with the effects of radiation and for reconstruction.

Stephanie is a dedicated, warm, loving, creative mom to four boys. Levi is 5, Evan just turned 9, Westley is 15, and Dylan is 18 and just started community college. Steph loves to sing, write songs and poetry, paint, do crafts, and bake. She also loves hiking and fitness. She has a big heart for helping others, teaching students, and being there for friends and family. She is trusting God on this journey and has a positive outlook, ready to take this cancer on.

Some of the expenses that she is facing are:

Travel expenses, including car rentals, as Steph’s 2003 car already broke down on the way to meet the oncologist for the first time.

Lodging for overnight stays when needed.

Medical treatments not covered by insurance.

Medical supplies and home health care needs.

Costs to help with childcare and meals.

Offset loss of income since Stephanie cannot return to teaching for many months.
