Help Stephanie Avoid Eviction This Winter

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Stephanie. I'm currently struggling to make ends meet and avoid eviction and homelessness this holiday season and I could really use your help.

I've spent the last 2 years recovering from abusive relationships and homelessness and I've hit a low point in my ability to continue getting back on my feet. I'm disabled with an injured back and hip and have issues with chronic pain and immobility, and my condition prevents me from driving. I have just barely been making ends meet working part-time as an Assistant Manager at a Party City store that is permanently closing in January, and between the nearly full-time hours and transportation time, I have been unable to secure another job. My pay is no longer enough to get me by and the family and friends I would typically reach out to for help are in positions where they're not willing or able to help.

Currently, I am searching for another part-time or replacement full-time job but I'm not having much luck in my area or remotely. I am receiving a severance at the end of January when my store closes, and as long as I have another job lined up for me, I should be okay. It's getting to that point over the next 2 months that worries me and doesn't seem like it will be possible.

I really don't have much I can sell but I've been looking at selling all of my possessions except for my bed to get by if I have to. I've been living with the heat off and not eating so that I don't generate a huge utilities bill I can't pay. I also have a number of hospital bills that need paying from recently falling and reinjuring my back, and I don't have any health insurance to help me. I no longer have acceas to the medications I need to manage my back and hip or my C-PTSD so every day is a struggle. I'm behind on my utilities, getting hounded by hospital billers, and expected to have $1000 the first week of the month for my rent. The truth is, I'll be lucky if I get $600 on my check, and my landlord won't wait another 2 weeks for more, so I'm facing the very real possibility that I will be evicted, which will render me homeless again within a week's time. Best case scenario, I lose everything I own but I get a spot at the HALO shelter, although I'm unable to rent anywhere for up to a decade with the eviction on my record; worst case scenario I get to freeze to death on the streets alone and with nothing for Christmas this year.

I am trying to raise $1500 right now to fully cover my rent, put a dent in my past-due medical and utility bills, and allow myself to survive the next couple months until the store I'm working at closes and the next chapter of my life begins. I just need help -- your help, ANY help -- to get me there.

Please consider donating to my GoFundMe if you've ever been where I am, if anyone's ever helped you out of a situation that threatened to destroy everything you've worked to build for yourself, if you care about the wellbeing of single, disabled women like myself trying to survive, or if you just want to do something positive and generous during the holiday season of giving we're in right now.
