Hello, my name is Emily and in the early morning of August 10th West Allis was hit by intense rainfall that caused devastating flooding.

Unfortunately, my sister Stephanie Pladies and her boyfriend Nick Chen, were affected by the floods resulting in significant damage to their home. The entire finished basement was flooded to the ceiling. The floodwaters also reached the main level where they had 2 feet of standing water, destroying more walls, flooring, furniture, and personal belongings. Both of their cars were also flooded and are now unusable.

For the past 3 days, they have been working non-stop to remove damaged belongings, tear out ruined walls and floors and try to salvage what they can.

Despite paying for home insurance, their policy covers absolutely nothing for flood damage. They are now left to rebuild on their own, facing the enormous costs of restoring electricity, heating/cooling, insulation, walls, ceilings, and replacing their essential belongings.
