You guys probably know me as Totally Steph! (My last name is Correlli but Apple has my married name saved -- I am working on fixing that!) You may have seen a few of my stories or captions alluding to the crazy financial repairs / replacements of very expensive home and car issues I have faced since Mid December.

To summarize:

Since mid-December, I’ve been hit with one unexpected emergency after another. What started as a simple furnace repair quickly turned into a series of major home and vehicle expenses that I wasn’t financially prepared for all at once.

Here’s what has happened in just a few months:

• Furnace repair: $190

• Full furnace replacement: $3,568 + $50 tip

• Gas leak repair: $450

• Replacement of frozen main sewer line outside my home: $2,000

(I’m still waiting on my insurance company to reimburse the $1,000 that exceeded my deductible.)

• Car diagnostic for sudden issues: $169

• Shipping a new/used car to my local CarMax: $800

• $3,000 down payment on a used vehicle (arriving around March 5)

And I still need to speak with my car insurance company to find out what my new monthly rate will be.

Every one of these expenses was urgent and unavoidable — heat in the winter, a gas leak, a sewer line failure, and a failing vehicle are not things I could delay. I’ve done everything I can to manage these costs responsibly, but the back-to-back timing has drained my savings.

I’m setting a goal of $3,000 to help offset these emergency expenses and stabilize my finances while I recover from this stretch of bad luck. Any support — whether through donating or sharing — would mean more than I can express.

If insurance reimburses part of the sewer line repair, those funds will go directly toward the remaining car costs and ongoing bills.
