Hello, my name is Kellie Tracey.
In 2016 my daughter, Stephanie , was a 28 year old attending college and living a normal life. Then her life was thrown into a downhill spiral that still seems out of control.
In the months and years that followed Stephanie (Steph) would become dependent on others to care for her every need.
Diagnosed with " White Matter Disease" Steph has become non verbal and in 2018 was confined to a wheelchair.
Very little is known about this disease and there is no treatment, let alone a cure.
Stephs brain is slowly shutting down. She has no control over her body. She has a feeding tube to allow me to feed her daily so she can get the nutrition she needs. Her muscles are beginning to lock up, despite all attempts at physical therapy and medication.
Doctors are reluctant to take her case, as little can be done to combat this disease.
Insurance has helped us get most of the equipment required to care for Stephs daily needs. A bed to make her comfortable, a lift to assist me in moving her from her bed to a chair or her wheel chair and such.
I care for Steph full time. Getting her in and out of a vehicle from her wheelchair has become more than I can handle.
I began to look into a wheelchair accessible vehicle to make it easier, not only to get her to and from doctors appointments, but to visit family and just get her outside to enjoy what life has to offer.
Unfortunately, no insurance company will assist with such an expensive investment.
I simply can not afford a vehicle of that nature.
Most of these vehicles used cost upwards of $40,000.
I never imagined my beautiful daughter being in such a position or that I may not be able to provide her with what she needs to enjoy something as simple as a ride in the car.
I pray that the generosity of others may help us, so I decided to start this fundraiser.
We thank you for your time and any contributions you might be willing to make.
Please, if you can, share this with anyone that may be willing to help Steph.
Thank you and God bless
I would just like to clarify our goal.
I currently have a 2018 Nissan Rogue.
Getting Steph from her wheelchair into the car, and vice-versa, is physically demanding on me and stressful for her both physically and mentally.
Our goal is to sell my Nissan and get a converted vehicle that would allow me to push Steph (in her wheelchair) into the car, lock her chair in and go! This would make transporting Steph to doctors appointments and family gatherings so much easier on all of us! Not only that, but it would give me an opportunity to take Steph to some of the places she loves! Her time is limited and something this simple can make a huge impact on her!
Thank you and God bless!
