Hi! My name is Yuliia.

Our son Stepan is a 12-year-old goalkeeper with a dream of becoming a professional soccer player. Because of the war in Ukraine, our family was forced to leave our home and start a new life in Canada. Through all this change, soccer has been Stepan’s constant — his source of strength, focus, and hope.

Before the war, Stepan trained with respected soccer academies in Ukraine. After arriving in Canada, he earned a spot with Pickering Soccer Club and, this year, successfully made OPDL, the highest competitive level for his age in Ontario.

Along the way, we have been humbled by the kindness of our new Canadian friends,

neighbours, and Stepan’s soccer community. Their support helped us feel welcomed

and gave our son a chance to continue doing what he loves.

Now, Stepan’s OPDL team has been invited to an international tournament in Portugal — an incredible opportunity to gain international experience and compete at a high level.

Why We’re Asking for Help

Since arriving in Canada, we have done everything we can to cover Stepan’s soccer expenses ourselves. However, the cost of an international tournament is beyond what our family can manage right now.

We are hoping to raise $5,000 CAD to help cover:

• Flights

• Accommodation

• Tournament fees

• Required team expenses
