Hi, my name is Stella. I am a 7 month old bull dog mix. Monday morning, October 18, 2021, I started throwing up while my mom was in the shower getting ready for work. Other than throwing up, I was acting pretty normal that morning. You know... running the fence and barking (even though I know I'm not supposed to), wrestling with my sisters, that kind of stuff. Sometimes, dogs just throw up, but I really didn't want too eat, and that's not like me. My dad tried giving me yogurt and pumpkin, but I didn't want that either. As the morning progressed, I felt worse.
When my mom came home for lunch, I felt horrible and was quivering, so my family called the vet, and they worked me in. She is a very nice lady, and I like her, and I get to go see her in a few weeks so she can make sure I'm healing OK. They took some x-rays of my stomach, and I was very still for them. When the x-rays were done, the vet told my family that I had eaten something, and I needed surgery that day.
My dad lost his job at the end of 2020 and has been diligently looking for another, but he has not found one in his field yet. He explained my family's financial situation to the vet, and she said that she would work with us if my family could put a deposit down. They put down the deposit even though they are not in a position to do that.
I am so glad my family made that decision. My surgery was 5 days ago, and I feel so much better. The vet took 2 unstuffed toys out of my stomach and intestine, and they weren't small toys. My mom already took away all my fun toys - the unstuffed ones that crinkle and squeak and said I can't have anymore, and my furless brothers scoured the backyard and house for anything that I may have hidden - I like to hide the toys I like from my fur-sisters. Right now, I can only eat a little bit of prescription food at a time while my stomach and intestines heal. Do you guys know how horrible that is??? I am so hungry all the time, and my sisters get to eat the good stuff.
I'm a pretty awesome puppy. My family says I'm the most laid back dog they have ever had - if I was a boy, my name would have been Stoney. I love to rub noses and I don't try to lick, I like jumping off the porch like I'm Super Dog and tackling my sisters. I like to play keep away and chase and tug-of-war, and I love to play in the mud. Most of all, I like snuggling and am super happy just to be touching you.
Please help my family pay for my vet bill and share my story. I love them a lot and am thankful they made the decision to help me. They are not the kind to ask for help - especially when it comes to money, but they are in a spot right now where they committed to save my life, but they can barely cover their own bills while my dad looks for a job.
If my fundraiser goal is reached, my family wants to donate unused funds to the fund my vet has for stray animals in need of emergency care.
