Help Stella with Cushing’s Tests & Treatments

Hi! This is my girl Stella. She is a lab survivor beagle from Beagle Freedom Project’s Robbie’s Rescue group, along with her other 7 rescue mates when they were on a meat truck headed for slaughter. Now, she has been free for three years! Her transformation from her first days with me until now are unbelievable. She used to avoid eye contact, flinch at anyone’s touch, and didn’t even know what a walk was! But today, she loves pets, food, people, peanut butter, and belly rubs. To know her is to love her with your entire heart.

Sadly, at her vet check ups this year, her blood panels were not looking good. After further, more expensive, testing, Stella has been diagnosed with Cushing’s Disease. Cushing’s Disease is when a dog’s body produces too much cortisol. Cortisol is used to respond to stress, fight infections, maintain weight, and keep blood sugar levels in check. If left untreated, dogs with Cushing’s are susceptible to bacterial infections and worsening symptoms (lethargy, weight gain, distended belly, hair loss, muscle weakening, and others).

Due to Stella’s first 8 years of her life being subject to unknown, terrible conditions in a lab, her body has been producing way too much cortisol for many years. Luckily, Cushing’s Disease is very treatable after the tests and treatments are solidified.

I've set up this go fund me so that I can give her the treatment and care she deserves in order for her to continue living her free life. The money will go towards her veterinary bills (urine protein tests, ACTH stimulation tests (multiple rounds), and medication as the accurate dosage is figured out).
