Stella is my beloved companion, and anyone who knows her knows how much she loves her daily adventures—especially sneaking off to find treats in the neighbor’s yard! When she suddenly became sick and refused to eat, I knew something was seriously wrong. I rushed her to the emergency vet at Texas A&M, where they ran bloodwork and checked for any obvious issues. While her bloodwork was normal, they discovered she has a Grade 5 (out of 6) heart murmur, which was a shock. The next day, our regular vet did more tests, including x-rays and an ultrasound, and determined that Stella was likely suffering from pancreatitis. She spent the day at the clinic receiving fluids and pain medication, but still wouldn’t eat for them. I brought her home and tried everything to tempt her—cheese, bacon, even steak—but she only managed a few bites. After another trip to the vet for more tests, we still didn’t have clear answers, and Stella continued to struggle with eating. She’s been so brave through all of this, but the ongoing vet visits, medications, and special care are adding up quickly. I want to do everything I can to help her recover and get back to her happy, adventurous self.
