The week of November 3-7th was a horrible week for Stella Edwards. What began as normal took a turn for the worse when a tire from an 18-wheeler blew out, and a piece of the tire flew shattering the windshield of her car.

Later in the week while Stella was checking her mailbox, she and her dog Nina were violently attacked by a large German Shepherd. The dog’s owner, unable to control the animal on leash, fled after his dog attacked both Stella and her small dog. Stella was knocked to the ground, injured, and unable to run away because she sustained multiple ankle fractures, wounds on her upper and lower body, and deep bruising. At the hospital, Stella underwent two painful surgeries to repair her dislocated foot and fractures in three parts of her ankle, held together by rods and pins.

Following her discharge from the hospital, Stella was made aware of various medical expenses that will not be covered by insurance and must be paid out-of-pocket.

Why She Needs Your Help

Stella is recovering at home until she returns to her part-time shift at Lowe’s. Her job typically covers her regular expenses like her car payment, insulin/pump, and other recurring costs. Beyond the medical bills and regular expenses, Stella needs help covering the damage to her car’s windshield which also required repairs to recalibrate its crash sensor. Stella is facing a financial burden that feels too much to bear on her own.
