Help Stella and Brandon after the fire on Royal

Hey y’all/ did everyone smell something burning Thursday night? Yea, that was me. Well, my house on royal street actually. It’s still there, and really from the street it doesn’t look like it’s been half gutted by fire and filled with smoke so thick that it pushed down between the old plaster walls, making them seem to weep black tears. Dramatic much Brandon? You wouldn’t expect anything else would ya? At least it looks like my house is crying. I want to change those tears from tears of pain and loss, to tears of laughter , joy, and too big a shot of ginger beer in my Moscow mule. I want to wake up on royal st again under my corona of silk and twinkling lights. I want 2417 Royal St to shine bright again and am calling on anyone and everyone who wants that as well. Help me blind Gary across the street with a chance to rebuild better and brighter than before. My needs are temporary as my studio sits idle in the back with no power since Entergy had to cut the service for safety reasons. Until I get my power safely restored to the studio I’m getting creative in my small “quaint” apartment in the quarter I’ve aptly name the treehouse. Be on the lookout soon for something special taking over an uptown boutique near you. Or a festival booth. Or a holiday market, heaven forbid! Hopefully I’ll be back up and stitchin up lengths (and widths)of draperies for everyone soon, until then donate to you’re favorite cause ….

Being serious though… I didn’t have renters insurance as I should’ve. My bad, I feel crappy that I’m in this situation and extra crappy asking everyone for help. The house was insured but without knowing what up and what not, I know it’s not gonna be right away that I can get back to work.

I did come across a kinda poignant quote while trying to write this. A house fire is hard because it’s the test first, then the lesson.

please get renters insurance if you rent, and you can. Because I’m telling you now, you can’t not afford it. Very grateful for all the help so far I’ve received from Red Cross and those who can help with a donation. Stella says thank you too!
