Help Stek’s Rebuild
Donation protected
Many of you may have heard that on the evening of 12th September a huge fire ripped through the garage/sheds/workshop at Mum and Dad’s farm. Thankfully the farm house was untouched, and we are so grateful no one was hurt in the fire.
Unfortunately, 40 years of memories and belongings were stored in the sheds. Photos going back decades, kids clothes ready for hand me downs to grand kids, surf boards, bikes and camping/fishing/diving gear is all lost.
Declans work car is gone containing all his tools and 4WD gear, the family boat, oscars shaping room containing surfboards and all his tools used for work and Jonah’s music studio a place which has been his sanctuary throughout the pandemic.
Most worryingly, most of Dad’s tools, building supplies and machinery has been damaged beyond repair – as a builder and a farmer, this means both sources of income for the family have been hindered and the rebuild is going to be incredibly difficult. For any man who lives in his shed, like dad, I’m sure you can imagine the tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of dollars worth of tools he has collected over the last 40 years, and how painful it was for him to watch them reduced to ash.
Mum and Dad have always been active members of the community. Always committee members and kids sport coaches, there was never a working bee, sausage sizzle or fundraiser without them. Dad has spent the last 2 years rebuilding the Woodleigh hall, so his community have a place to gather and meet each other. Neither of our parents has ever said no to a friend in need, I can’t imagine how many fences, back deck and bungalows dad has helped build, for a bottle of red as payment.
So, now, we are asking that the community, which mum and dad have always helped, come together and give them a hand too. We know the last few years have been tough for a lot of people, but if you are able to donate, please do, so we can start to rebuild some of what has been lost.
Thankyou so much to you all ❤
