My name is Michael DeLeon, and I am the founder of Steered Straight, a nonprofit that has dedicated the last 18 years to saving lives, preventing addiction, and giving hope to those who feel forgotten. Our mission has always been clear: educate, inspire, and support youth, young adults, incarcerated individuals, returning citizens, parents, and families affected by addiction, trauma, and incarceration.

Through school presentations, community outreach, mentoring programs, re-entry support, and prevention education, we’ve reached over 16 million students across the country. We provide vital services and second chances to those who desperately need them—including our most vulnerable populations.

But today, we are asking for your help.

A Devastating Setback

Recently, our nonprofit was the victim of online theft and fraud that wiped out a significant portion of our funding. This has dealt a crushing blow to some of our most important and life-saving projects, including:

Tiny homes for women and children escaping addiction and abuse

Veteran homes for men transitioning out of homelessness, incarceration, or addiction

The launch of community-based drug treatment programs to address the fentanyl and mental health crisis

Our continued outreach in schools and correctional facilities

This attack didn’t just steal money—it stole time, safety, and hope from people who are depending on us.

Steered Straight exists to break generational cycles of addiction, incarceration, and hopelessness. We help by:
