Steel City Academy of Dance has lived and breathed in its studio space on Kennywood Boulevard in Duquesne for 50 years. Sadly, our time in the studio we have called home for decades has come to an end. The new building owner has decided to use the space for a different purpose so will no longer be providing us with a lease. Although we are excited at the prospect of creating a new studio, this move is coming at an exceptionally challenging time. Like many businesses, our income has been impacted by Covid-19. Having to find a new space and incur the costs of relocation, renovation, and significantly higher rent amounts during this trying and uncertain time is difficult.
The dance studio name changed along the way, from Pat’s Dance Studio to Steel City Academy of Dance, but the family that was built within those walls remained the same. We have always shared the same foundation, the same philosophy, the same passion for sharing the gift of dance with one another. Our doors may look different and will open into a different space, but behind those doors will live the heart of the dance studio that has been shared by so many amazing people for many, many years.
We have found a new space for the studio that will require us to construct the interior at our own expense. The new studio will be in a great location near the Waterfront in West Homestead, will have a larger dance floor and a great parking lot. We are looking forward to the opportunity to build a new and improved dance studio in a better location with exciting upgrades. But, we can’t do it alone. We are hoping that we can rely on your support.
Our goal is to raise money to help us construct our new space. We want to make this new home everything our students deserve it to be. Helping us rebuild ensures that kids who want to dance get to do so at a studio where the quality of the classes is high and the program is run with great care and a true passion for the art of dance. We are committed to continuing our mission of providing affordable, professional level instruction in a studio that allows the dancers room to move, to grow, and to thrive.
