Help start up Cocol: Coffee, Beer & Wine Café

First and foremost, I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this. As many of you know, one of my life goals has always been to open up my own coffee shop. Well the time has finally come! An oppurtunity has presented itself and it has completly taken me by surprise, and thats why im here. 

CoCol is an upcoming coffee, beer and wine café in Socorro, Texas.  An asset to the city of Socorro Road across Three Missions Brewery and Casa Ortiz gallery, CoCol is a big dream, with a big heart, el Gran Homenaje a mi familia.

Porque CoCol? 
My cultural background, growing up on the border of El Paso, Texas, and Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua,  brings its own, special uprising in a Mexican-American household. One of my earliest memories is sitting at grandma's table, having a sugar donut with a mango Jumex, that she would pick up every morning for my sister and I from “ La Lupita”.  My grandpa, cleaning his hands with a bandana he always carried in his right back pocket, would join us. As he sat down he would yell out “dame mi cocol!” with a big warm smile on his face. My grandma would set up his coffee and he would sip the morning away. Now every night, my mother makes her self a piping hot coffee to unwind from a long day.  For most of us,  coffee is more than a drink, it is a ritual that brings a certain comfort,  a comfort that CoCol will provide. 


One of my first jobs was at a small, family owned coffee shop in Northeast El Paso. It wasn’t hard to fall in love with the smell of a fresh brew every morning. I soon realized how great it felt to start someones day on a good note. As I grew older, I found comfort in the service industry. Interacting with people, making people laugh, creating new bonds and memories came natural to me. I strongly feel that is one of the things i look forward to the most, creating new connections between people and cities. 

Branching out has helped me live, grow and learn. Working with local restaurants from opening, to day-to-day business, has taught me so much. I know first hand what it is like to face the challenge of opening up your own business, and that is why I hope you can help me.


CoCol will not only bring a new home to some of you, but it will create a communti gathering point, a welcoming space where everyone can be themselves. I want to bring life into Socorro in the form of art, music, food, and drink. We have a big heart, and huge dreams with CoCol, and we really hope that you can be a part of it.

Right on the Mission Trail, Casa Apodaca is over 100-years-old. This adobe home now split into two businesses: a ramen-ya and tacos restaurant and our café. Our goal is honor this building, while bringing our roots back  to life. The first day I laid eyes on this beautiful hacienda, I couldn’t help but to think of my grandmother and her garden. Every leaf will be in the honer of the women who have raised me. 

There are a few things CoCol has to face like, licensing, permits, and equipment to get up and running— I belive in Cocol, i belive it can and will succed, we just need a little of your help.
