Help Инна Масенко start her new life

Donation protected
My grandma Инна Масенко was born
and raised in Kyiv, Ukraine in 1947. She has spent her entire life there taking care of others. Wether it was her own family or old ladies in her neighborhood she has always been there to lend a helping hand when needed.

Инна was set on staying in Kyiv when the war began, she would even go on store runs to get bread for the older ladies that lived in her building and did not want to leave her home. On March 11th Инна asked if we can help get her out of Kyiv due to the continuing attacks on our beautiful city and her not feeling safe any longer so we found am organization that could get her to one of the neighboring countries but could not guarantee her safety along the ride.

We got a call on March 13 that she would be taken to Hungary where we would meet her and help get her farther along on her journey. With difficulty she found one bag that she pinned a Ukranian flag on, packed it with whatever she could fit and fled
the only place she has ever called home with everything left behind. Family heirlooms, her late husbands art, and countless other possessions left behind.

March 14th she boarded a bus and began her journey… After approximately 17
hours they arrived at the Hungarian border where my mother, Yelena Masenko and I, Daniil Khorunzhiy flew out to meet her when she safely arrived in Hungary.

This is just the beginning of her story, We are currently working on getting her to Berlin where she will stay until she has her green card interview at which point we hope to get her to the states to live with us. We will have to have a family meme we staying with her to help translate because she only speaks Ukranian and Russian. We will have to cover the cost of housing, groceries, clothing, transportation to and from Berlin, etc.

Getting to show up for my family in these times has been one of the greatest gifts I have received and simultaneously the most difficult thing to witness. All the families we have crossed paths with, old and young that gave up everything they have worked for their entire lives and fled the only place they call home. All the volunteers and support has been amazing and beautiful but also heartbreaking.

Please give what you can or a simple share of you aren’t able to. Thank you if you have read this far hug your elders and loved ones and don’t forget to be grateful for the time
we get to spend with our loved ones.
