Start A.&A. Community Based Transitional Housing
Donation protected
Hello,
We are trying to get the start-up funds to start a community for people coming out of prison and people with housing situations. These funds will help secure a place to start community-based transitional Housing. Young struggle is currently looking for a space to continue their youth reading program, peace education program in a place they can call their own. Currently Young Struggle has an active Domestic Violence Re-Directed group, provides food to people facing housing situations. Young Struggle is made of community members and brings peer support to the center of their practices.
For those of you unfamiliar with the importance of transitional housing, it is an irreplaceable step for those who need it. Often, people are released from prison with no housing options, identification, or supportive community. Transitional housing like this could create a bridge for people to get back on their feet (either transitioning from prison or living on the streets). In Buncombe County, housing is both competitive and prohibitively expensive. Having a background, or negative rental history can make getting into housing nearly impossible. Creating a welcoming housing option for those with housing barriers would be invaluable.
