Help Starlene McDonald Heal and Rest
Donation protected
Hello, our names are Krista McDonald, Chasity McDonald, and Angela Pugh. We are the daughters of Starlene McDonald. My mother was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2022. It has been a battle for her. Her body doesn’t respond well to the chemotherapy and she has been hospitalized on several occasions. Following her most recent PET scan, she was told that the cancer has grown. Her oncologist has recommended a more toxic and aggressive form of chemotherapy, which she started on 10/21/2024. The first four weekly 4-hour treatments require her to have someone with her for three days post-treatment. The chemotherapy drug has a high likelihood of causing neurotoxicity. Throughout the duration of her cancer diagnosis, my mother has continued to work. She works the night shift at WVU Medicine ED as a housekeeper. It doesn’t matter how much we ask her to just take the time off and rest; she doesn’t. Mostly because she can’t afford it. As many know, having cancer and receiving treatment doesn’t take away bills.
My mother is one of the most selfless and loving people I have ever met. She always worries about everyone else before herself. She will go without to make sure the people she loves are taken care of. Now, it’s time for us to take care of her. We are asking for donations to allow her to pay her bills and take the time she needs off work to heal. By donating, you are truly helping her heal. My momma is a proud person and has said several times she doesn’t want us to ask for money, but I feel like we have no choice at this point. Any amount is appreciated and we are beyond grateful for this help in her time of need.
