My heart is heavy, but filled with gratitude. Yesterday, December 19th, my beloved first dog, Star, went missing around 9:00 PM. We searched through the bitter cold until 3:00 AM with no sign of her, fearing the worst given the weather.

Star isn't just a pet; she is a 13 year old Husky who has been by my side since she was only 5 months old. She is my heart.

I owe everything to the Connecticut Dog Gone Recovery volunteers. They showed up early this morning and "brought the whole town" with them. Their dedication gave me hope when I had none. Eventually, a volunteer spotted Star in the river. Without a second thought, one of the volunteers jumped into the freezing water to pull her to safety.

Star was rushed to the emergency vet and is currently being treated for severe hypothermia. While she is a fighter, her recovery is a massive undertaking.

Why I am reaching out

I was not prepared for the astronomical cost of emergency life saving care. Between the initial treatment and the ongoing monitoring she needs to stabilize, the bills have already exceeded what I can afford. As a senior dog, her recovery may require even more medical intervention than originally expected.

I am doing everything in my power to bring my girl home so she can spend her final years in the warmth of her family. If you can donate anything at all.. no matter how small. it will go directly toward her vet bills and life-saving care.
