Star and Hunter came into our lives as stray cats several years ago, and they quickly became beloved members of our family. Over time, both have developed severe dental issues, much like their sister Marmalade, who also needed help in the past. Hunter’s teeth are retracting or growing into the back of his jaw, causing him constant, extreme pain. Star has become more and more lethargic, and she flinches even when she tries to wipe her face with her paw. It’s heartbreaking to see them struggle, and I want nothing more than to help them feel better.

Hunter is currently on pre-surgery steroids, which have already made him look more bright-eyed, but he still needs to have his molars pulled. Star will likely need several teeth removed as well, and both will require sedation, antibiotics, and pain management medication. Getting Star to the vet is especially difficult because she’s so skittish, but I know it’s the only way to give her relief and a better quality of life.

We do our best to help many kitties by fostering and finding them homes, but sometimes our own cats need help too. We’re having a really hard time financially right now, as so many people are, and we hope that our community can support us the way we’ve supported so many cats in need.
