Help Stanly Heal and return Home

Cherished friends, family and extended community,
It is with the heaviest of hearts that I share this news and ask for your support. Our dear friend Erin Star Hughes and her beloved partner Stanly Ellis, whom many of you have not yet even had the pleasure to meet due to COVID, have just recently received some very shocking news. After 10 days of hospitalization, and a myriad of tests and scans, they learned that Stanly has Stage 4 Melanoma.
On the upside, it seems possible that Erin and Stanly are going to be managing this disease for some time to come, perhaps a year, perhaps more. We, within the family, and the medical teams, are all hopeful that his youth remains on his side and treatments will show good results. It has been made clear to us however that treatments are just that, a treatment, and not a cure.
I feel incredibly blessed to have had the opportunity over the past year to get to know Stanly. He is warm and kind, funny and smart. He has a huge, generous, heart, he is genuine and playful and he loves kids. He is incredibly strong and full of faith. He has brought a light and a peace to Erin and Mafali’s life that has been beautiful to witness.
Stanly hails from a small community called Labyrinth in St. Mary, Jamaica. He’s been an exemplary citizen who has earned the respect of his neighbors and family members as a hardworking, devoted and loving father to his four children.
Erin and Stanly will be staying in Vermont to initiate treatment and we hope for a positive response. But their ultimate goal is to return home to Jamaica, so Stanly can spend time with his family by his side.
We ask for your support during this extraordinarily difficult time. Undoubtedly, there will be extensive medical costs, travel expenses, and we also hope to provide his children with funds that could help to secure a strong and stable future for them financially. If you feel moved, and it is within your means, we would be so grateful for any donation you can make. If you are not able to donate, you can still help by sharing this Go Fund Me link far and wide. This would mean the world to all of us. But above all, I ask for your collective prayer and meditation for comfort, healing and peace to engulf them. I have no doubt that being the amazing community that we are, we will be able to surround Stanly and Erin with the love, support and prayer that will be necessary to see them through.
Erin and Stanly are welcoming messages of love and support but please direct any questions you have to me, I can be reached through this Go Fund Me.
With love, hope and gratitude.
Amelie
