Help with medical expenses and recovery for Stanley Campbell
Stanley Campbell has spent his career working for peace and justice in Rockford, Illinois, his lifelong home. A Vietnam vet, he has been the director of Rockford Urban Ministries since 1985. After helping others for so many years, Stanley now needs a little help from us.
On December 4th, Stanley and a friend were hit by an uninsured motorist while in a crosswalk. Stanley's friend, Mike, sustained minor injuries and is recovering well. Unfortunately, Stanley's injuries were more severe – a broken pelvis – and the expenses are beyond his resources.
Stanley's insurance paid most if not all of the hospital costs and his initial stay at St. Anthony Medical Center. He was moved to Alden Debes Acute Care where his Medicare Advantage plan covered the first ten days, but then he lost appeals for the extended recovery time, so Stanley is responsible for the remainder of his recovery time at Alden as well as ongoing physical therapy and unforeseen costs for his ongoing recovery.
On Jan. 14th, Stanley moved into his brother’s house where Tim, his wife Deb and Stanley’s 94-year-old mother will take care of him until he can stand – which may be a month or two away.
Your donation will help cover the medical costs of Alden Debes, incidental costs for the stay at his brother's home, physical therapy, medical equipment, any co-pay for St. Anthony and ongoing costs for Stanley’s recovery.
