Stampie #A2260439 is a 7 year old shepherd who was surrendered to East Valley shelter in Van Nuys / Los Angeles, CA by the only family he has known since he was a puppy on March 9th 2026. He quickly ended up on the dreaded euthanasia list as the shelter system is over its capacity for care and he was supposedly exhibiting symptoms of fear, anxiety and stress by hiding in his kennel.

A wonderful family in Michigan that recently lost their shepherd saw his plea and will open their home for him. He will again live with cats like he did in his prior home that he lost. Unfortunately they cannot cover his full transport costs which is why we are asking for your help.

His transport will leave this Saturday3/28 already so we urgently need to raise the money for transport (payment is due upon pickup).

Volunteers who have met him describe him as initially a bit timid, he takes a few minutes to warm up and be comfortable with new people. He will then take treats gently from your hand. Stampie likes gentle pets and knows how to sit.

Despite being labeled a “guard dog” by the prior owner he has not shown barrier reactivity with other dogs or people. Stampie walks nicely on leash.

In playgroup he has a Gentle & Dainty play style or doesn’t play. He’s tolerant of other dogs and greets them appropriately and gives appropriate corrections. He mainly mingles and is lower energy and affiliative with people.
