Help Stamford Family of 6 Recover from House Fire
Donation protected
This GoFundMe is to help pay for our expenses for the next few months. We are a family of 4 adults and two middle school aged children. Three of us are self-employed.
On Sept 12, we are thankful Stamford Firefighters came to our rescue. As many of you might have seen on the news. My mom’s multi-family home caught fire. Everyone’s pets survived except for one of our cats, they were brought to Stamford's Cornell University Veterinary Specialists. Here they were able to receive individualized care from their amazing staff. We could not be more thankful to the Stamford Firefighters who immediately started to render aid, and the team at Cornell for saving our pets. They are family to us.
Unfortunately, this fire couldn’t have occurred at a worst time in our lives. My mother Dorothy who works cleaning homes was diagnosed with bladder cancer and is scheduled for her surgery in mid-October. The recovery will keep her out of work for 12+ weeks. My stepfather Alfred was just laid off from his construction job because the contractor cannot afford to pay him. Lastly, on Sept 19, my husband Michael was admitted to Greenwich Hospital ER after coughing up blood. His CT scan showed a 7 mm nodule in his lung. We are beyond devastated and are trying to remain strong for our boys. Michael is the only one in our family that is currently employed. However, he’s going to be out of work temporarily while he receives further diagnostics on his lung. In the upcoming days we will be meeting with a pulmonary doctor and a cardiologist.
Any money you can afford to help us with is more than greatly appreciated. No donation is too small.
The funds will be used for the following:
· groceries
· pet food
· medication and medical bills for my mother and Michael
· car payments and car insurance for 3 of us
· re-purchase school supplies for the boys
· replacement of clothing
· replace equipment for my work in dog grooming and pet care
· basic home necessities
· holiday gifts for the kids
Thank you for your support.
