Who we are:
the feminist theatre company is a student club at Tisch School of the Arts. We are dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive environment for women and non-binary artists to explore and produce feminist-driven performance pieces. We aim to engage students from across New York University's diverse departments to collaborate and create art surrounding issues of gender, identity, and social justice. Through our productions, we hope to provoke thought, inspire action, and ultimately create change within both the artistic community and society at large.
Our project:
This semester, we’re staging What Every Girl Should Know by Monica Byrne, a powerful play set in a 1914 Catholic reformatory. It follows four teenage girls whose discovery of Margaret Sanger’s writings transforms their lives, blurring the lines between fantasy and reality as they grapple with desire, repression, and rebellion.
Why you should support us:
By supporting our production this semester, you will be helping create:
- Amplify underrepresented voices and perspectives.
- Create a space for audiences to engage in conversations about gender, sexuality, and justice.
- Keep tickets affordable (or free) for students and community members
- Fund rehearsal spaces, costumes, sets, props, and technical equipment.
Thank you for believing in feminist art and in the power of young artists to create change. Your support means the world to us, we can’t wait to share this work with you!
